Ciao punctuations, lots of boating, and the art of turning a dead-end into a piece of magic. We visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, steered a boat with Row Venice, ate one million sweets, and enjoyed photography at the Venice Biennale.
Loved reading this, Kelsey. I'm going to Venice next week and this post has made me so excited for my trip. Your photos are lovely, and I'm glad you had such a wonderful honeymoon. I've marked Marchini Time down in my notes plus your gondolier's recommendation for the best Tiramisu in Venice so grazie mille in advance for that. I'm definitely hoping to hit the Guggenheim Collection - I'll pass on your respects if I find Peggy's grave.
AHH I can't wait for your to experience Venice so, so, so soon! Please keep me posted if you make it to Marchini Time, Peggy's house, or to Trattoria Bar Pontini! Thanks in advance for paying Peggy a proper visit for me!
I will never understand people saying that Venice is overrated. Since when is perfection overrated?!
The last time my husband and I visited was maybe 10 years ago and we were broke as hell... I remember being THRILLED that we got free ruffled chips and green olives with our Aperol Spritz everywhere we went. We brought that idea home and still serve cocktails this way, especially during the summer and all our friends lose their minds over it. It's genius.
I loved the potato chips with the drinks as well! We never got any free olives though, what the heck! It reminds me of going over to friends' houses here in France— lots of potato chips as a little snack before the meal starts!
A friend of mine is a diplomat's wife and does a lot of high-brow entertaining and she told me to just always have a pantry full of pringles and fancy bowls to serve them in. 🫣
I loved reading this, and I’m so glad you loved it so much! I’m having a passionate love affair with the city, and will go back for the third year in a row soon. I had visited as a child, and later as well, but had just absorbed the disney bits. These days I absorb how extraordinary the city of water is, and walk and eat incessantly. I like the bits away from the touristy stuff, where you just get to see a different way of living (and where it must be so limiting to have a disability- it’s not a way of life that is kind to everyone). Coming from Rome, I appreciate how polite people are, and how clean the public toilets are!
Please never stop your love affair with Venice! It's such a special way to live and I hope that the city can contain all of its uniqueness despite being rained with tourists constantly.
I had that same thought multiple times: how does anyone with a mobile disability live in Venice with the huge lack of wheels, all of the steps and uneven surfaces, plus getting on and off of the rocking boats? We never saw a wheelchair anywhere, which made me insanely confused.
I’ve been considering a trip to Venice and was so happy to read this! Beautiful trip, beautiful writing. (And beautiful clothing — I am *begging* you to do more style-centric posts!)
I am urging you to get over there!!! Thank you for these compliments, Aja!
Gosh, I am so tempted to do some style-related posts, but I always feel weird about photos of myself. Maybe you'll see me ramp up my sharing of that part of my life here soon. :)
This means a LOT coming from you! Thank you, Gillian! I am deeply curious about what it's like to live there full-time, so I am looking forward to more of your posts. ❣️
Oh, what a gorgeous post! 🥰 I'm glad you liked Venice and found a way to appreciate its (definitely not overrated 😅) beauty. I'm Italian so I can understand the fascination it has on everyone, Italians included! I went twice already and maybe I'll go again in the future.
I'm definitely adding The Militant Muse to my reading list, sounds so interesting 😎
I hope I did Italy some justice in my writing. It's so tough to write about an entire culture that I have just barely scratched the surface of. Six days wasn't enough! I hope you'll be able to make your way there again soon!
Oh this was such a joy to read Kelsey! And very timely...I am heading to Venice tomorrow for the first time and am beyond excited to finally experience this magical place. I will give Peggy a respectful nod and a whispered blessing for you!

she’s buried with her dogs at her museum ❤️

That’s my one regret in Venice—I walked all over her home and somehow missed the spot where she was buried! 😭
It means you have to come back!
Absolutely! ❤️
next time!

You look so Venetian rowing that boat! Gorgeous outfit.
From the stripes, people would have (maybe) never guessed that I am an American posing as French posing as Italian while on vacation! 😂
Thank you!
Oh what a delightful joy filled read. Venice is complicated & baffling & ravishing. I love it when people surrender & get it.
This means a LOT coming from you! Thank you, Gillian! I am deeply curious about what it's like to live there full-time, so I am looking forward to more of your posts. ❣️
this was such a joy to read!! congrats to you two!
Thank you tons, Michael!!

Such a lovely post Kelsey! I loved reading about it and you made travel through your words.
I’m also adding The Militant Muse to my reading list. I feel we share similar reading taste :)
Thank you, Giselle! We are totally on the same page when it comes to a million things. I hope you can pick up a copy of the book too!! ❣️
Looks like you had such a beautiful time! I’ve still never been but can’t wait to visit someday.
Your words have made me all the more excited!
Kaity, thank you!!! I hope you're able to go one of these days!
Your wedding is insanely soon, yeah? Thinking of you so much! ❤️
It’s next week 🙃 I feel crazy. Thank you 🩷🩷

The one negative thing about this place was that you're literally showering over the toilet. Just a heads up! 😂 Thankfully it was a clean toilet.
