The de Kooning couple reminds me a bit of the Delaunays. Robert got more credit in his day, but Sonia's work has been getting well-deserved recognition now.

Oh my goodness, absolutely! One of the most beautiful books I own is The New Art of Color (full PDF version is available here: https://archive.org/details/newartofcolor00robe/mode/2up), which is a collection of their writings. Whenever I look through it, I find myself wishing it was better balanced. It's mostly focused on Robert's writings!

On a related subject, did you get a chance to get up to the Musée Soulages when you lived in Toulouse? I know it’s not exactly a hop, skip and a jump, but it’s definitely worthwhile.

This was amazing! I also love reading the writings of dead artists haha I read "Hundreds and Thousands: The Journals of Emily Carr" last year and loved it. I'm excited to read Eleine's writings next! Going to order the book <3 (Also need to read Ninth Street Women)

Oh my goodness, please read Ninth Street Women!!! I spent an entire summer reading it, trying to be on as many park benches or picnic blankets as possible while doing so. I was totally in the artists’ world and outside of my own! I loved it!

Glad you’re in the dead artists book club (alive ones are cool too)!

I recently purchased the same collection of Elaine’s writing! I was hunting for it for some time, eager after finishing Ninth Street Women. I’m so delighted to read your thoughts and insights into Elaine. I just adore her, including her writing. Lovely post Kelsey!

No way!!! Oh I can’t wait to hear what you think about this book! It was a tough one to find (especially outside of Amazon) so I’m glad we both secured a copy. It’s insanely special. ❤️
