What a fascinating insight into one of my favorite artists! There's something that calls me to Twombly's work too. I was lucky to see his first exhibit in Mexico, at Museo Jumex a few years ago and I could've stayed there forever. There's something very raw in his work, but as you say, there's a veil of mystery, like an old language waiting to be deciphered. After this post I want to dive into his work even deeper!!!
