I love that you wrote about these artists!! Thanks for sending the link!
I read Ninth Street Women over the course of summer of 2019, laying on blankets at parks all over Seattle or on benches near the water. It was such a dream reading situation. My grandfather passed away that August unexpectedly, and a week later, I read the last chapters of the book--the part that talks about all of the artists passing away. I cried so hard in the grass alone, feeling the weight of ALL of that loss!!!! It goes to say that those five women become a part of your life as you go through the book's 900+ pages.
Thank you, they are all my absolute faves! Have you read Gail Levin’s biography on Lee Krasner? It’s so interesting and inspiring. Sounds like such an amazing book, something to get completely lost in. I’ll have to grab is asap! Thank you for pushing me to buy it ☺️
I haven’t read the Krasner book yet and now I want to thank YOU for the inspiration to add it to my collection! 🥰 There are a few dozen photos of Lee in the archive I manage for work and I always admire the person she was, how she lived, her wardrobe, and of course—her art practice!
Oh you’re so so welcome. Your posts are always inspiring me. Aw cool, I bet those photos are fantastic. Her work is so beautiful and yes Krasners wardrobe is so great 😀 Gail Levin is on substack but I don’t think she has posted for a long while now.
Thank you, Rachel!! Ooh, I hope you are able to get a copy of The Postcard to read soon! I have no excuse as to why it’s taken me months to get around to it—except for the TBR pile being massive!
I’ve been dying to read Ninth Street Women for ages! I wrote this a while back which I really enjoyed

I loved The Lying Life of Adults! The Postcard has been on my radar, too. Thanks for this incredible list! 🤍
